Cuba! Gallery of Fine Art has moved! Please help us spread the word ...

We've relocated our bricks and mortar gallery just a few blocks east of our former location in Downtown Melbourne, Florida.  To house our collection of Cuban contemporary art, we've created an elegant new gallery inside the historic coral-colored 1900 Building on the corner of New Haven Avenue and U.S. 1,  First floor, Suite 124-A.  We hope to see you soon.

Cuba! Gallery of Fine Art specializes in works of art created by contemporary, renown and emerging Cuban artists who live and work in the island nation of Cuba.  All Cuban art in the Gallery is original.  We enjoy the distinction of being the largest of only two brick-and-mortar establishments in Florida that sells exclusively, art from inside Cuba;  and one of only a handful of galleries in the USA who is licensed to travel to Cuba to procure Cuban art legally.

The rotating collection of 100+ works features the real to the surreal, abstraction to impressionism, figurative to folkloric;  in oils, acrylics, textile collages, mixed media, photography, original engravings, serigraphs and collagraphs. 

Until recently, the artistic riches of the island nation have been locked behind the walls of the U.S. imposed economic embargo.  But, now we are enjoying the Cuban art that the rest of the world has been applauding for some time. 

DOING BUSINESS IN CUBA

Gallerist Marjorie Pravden travels to Cuba regularly with a Cuban visa and a Special License from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.  She has a Masters degree in Art Education and ten years experience in Cuba travel and transporting art from Cuba to the U.S.

We purchase works outright from artists in the privacy of their homes and workshops in towns, cities and rural countrysides in Cuba.  We take the art out of their frames, roll them up, carry them on board the plane in our arms, bring them home and reframe them.  The artists comprise a group of fine and performing artists who, as a result of compensation from outside their homeland, are part of Cuba's new emerging middle class. 

Through the years we have had many thought-provoking and touching experiences while conducting business with Cuban artists, many of whom have become our friends.  They are stories richly laden with trust, hope, graciousness and an entrepreneurial spirit beyond compare.  We will add them from time to time under certain artists on the "Search Artists" page.
